What a Year

Hello everyone. Welcome to the Minnesota Twins blog. After a slow start to the 2006 season, the Twins heated up in second half, finishing with a 96-66 record and their fourth Central Division title in the last five years. Joe Mauer won the batting title, finishing the year with a .347 average; Johan Santana unanimously won the Cy Young award, finishing with 19 wins, 245 strikeouts and a 2.77 ERA; and Justin Morneau won the MVP, hitting 34 home runs and driving in 130 runs while batting .321. Surprisingly enough, there is even better news for the Twins. As of May 20, 2006, The Minnesota Twins will have a new outdoor ballpark in downtown Minneapolis, set to open in April 2010. After over 25 years in the Metrodome, the Twins will be able to play baseball the way it was meant to be played: outside.
